The waste water treatment plant Thessaloniki is a one-step activated sludge plant with anaerobe sludge stabilisation. For the mechanic step coarse rack, aired grit, grease chamber and a pre-sedimentation were offered. For the biological step activated sludge tanks with a total volume of 140,000 m³ and final sedimentation tanks were planned. To aerate the activated sludge tanks air diffusion is used. The plant is calculated on nutrient elimination. Pre-connected denitrification was planned for the nitrogen elimination. For the sewage sludge treatment static, septic tanks and filter belt presses were planned.
